The title of the Collection Exhibition 2024-III ‘Relations’ is ‘Character Development’. It covers a variety of characters created in the past. The latest character, which was created and completed at the museum while the exhibition was being prepared, as the planned deadline was not met, is the logo of two shelter dogs + farmer called ‘Sophia & Kygnus, the Farmer of Produce’.
In exhibitions, artists sometimes stay and create art, and ‘Sophia & Kygnus, the Farmer of Produce,’ consider this to be the same. It was not through an advertising agency or publishing house, but a personal request from Miyatake Yohei, who started an organic farm in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. In return for creating the character, he received the farmer's produce.
This local, de-capitalist endeavour is itself a practice of ‘Character Development’. ‘Sophia & Kygnus, the Farmer of Produce’ produce (in this case sweet potatoes) and open a stall at the museum as a baked sweet potato shop. This in itself is a very logical (conceptual) action (behaviour) as a ‘character development diagram’.
Please enjoy it!
