The event related to the open program “Meeting Point: Encounter, Get to Know, Exchange.” The documentary films The Act of Killing (October 20) and The Look of Silence (October 27), which depict the Indonesian mass killing of 1965-66 from both the perpetrators' and the victims' perspectives, will be screened over two weeks.

The Look of Silence(2014、103min) *Indonesian (with Japanese subtitles)

This is a documentary that reexamines the Indonesian mass killing from the perspective of the victims after the filming of The Act of Killing.
The film depicts a young optician, the brother of one of the victims, who asks the perpetrators of the massacre some pointed questions while providing them with free eye exams, bringing to light the “evil without responsibility” of the perpetrators.
